The Lightning Boy Foundation is a non profit organization in Northern New Mexico that provides traditional hoop dance instruction and other dance programming to youth ages two and up. Our mission is dedicated to nurturing and building confidence and integrity through culture and artistic expression.

In Memory

The Lightning Boy Foundation was established in honor of Valentino 'Tzigiwhaeno' Rivera, a boy who couldn't stop dancing. Valentino participated in traditional pueblo dances, traditional hoop dancing, hip hop and break dancing. After his passing at age 8, LBF was co-founded by his mother, Felicia Rosacker-Rivera, and mentor/spokesman/artist Steve LaRance (Hopi, Assiniboine) and is dedicated to nurturing and building confidence and integrity through culture and artistic expression.

Youth receive high intensity hoop dance instruction and 1 on 1 mentoring from 9-Time World Hoop Dance Champion, Nakotah LaRance. Practices commense in Nambé and Pojoaque Pueblos.

The LBF Hoop Dancers have performed at various private and public events across New Mexico & the US. To reserve a performance for your event
